Wolf Creek Clean Up

cleanup5.gif Many thanks to the Hackensack Riverkeeper and the amazing volunteers who participated in this successful clean up of Wolf Creek in Vet's Park on Jan. 16. Having above seasonal temperatures that day allowed a thorough clean up and what came out of the water truly surprised us all. The Borough of Ridgefield and its DPW and Environmental Commission are truly grateful for efforts of everyone on that day.

2010 U.S. Census Cautions to avoid Fraud or Identity Theft

With the U.S. Census process beginning, the Better Business Bureau (BBB) advises people to be cooperative, but cautious, so as not to become a victim of fraud or identity theft. The first phase of the 2010 U.S. Census is under way as workers have begun verifying the addresses of households across the country. Eventually, more than 140,000 U.S. Census workers will count every person in the and will gather information about every person living at each address including name, age, gender, race, and other relevant data. Cellular Phone Use While Driving is Now a Primary Offense

Effective March 1st, 2008, the use of wireless hand-held telephones and electronic communication devices by the operator of a moving vehicle is a primary offense in New Jersey. This means that you can be pulled over and issued a ticket by a police officer for talking on your cellular phone or text/electronic messaging with a phone or PDA.

Governor Corzine signed the bill into law in November of 2007 in an effort to make our roadways safer. An increased number of motor vehicle crashes are being attributed to distracted drivers and the cellular phone is one of the most common distractions.

Use of an electronic device or cellular phone means talking or listening to another person or text messaging or sending electronic messages while driving.

“The Ridgefield police Department is aggressively enforcing this law and asks that all motorists comply for the safety of everyone”

Thomas J. Gallagher
Chief of Police
Ridgefield Police Department
